From a legal standpoint, the court probably got this right. As long as no taxpayer money is involved, and I don't think any is, nobody has standing to bring a suit to have the National Day of Prayer declared unconstitutional. Note that the court did not say anything as to whether having a National Day of Prayer is a good thing. As an atheist, I don't think the government has any business saying anything one way or the other regarding prayer. The case, however, turned on the issue of standing, which is a technical legal problem.
