What are the mandatory steps to take with my vehicle when moving to CA?

I just recently moved to CA from the east coast and i need to know the step by step process when going to the DMV. Im a 20yr old female who doesnt know anything about cars =/ Detailed steps to take would be much apprecitaed! Ive heard these thrown around but nothing makes sense to me (smog check, registration, residency/change my drivers license) registe rto vote, tags, drivers test, etc!) Please please help! i NEED to take car of this before its too late =(
